License Information
You both need to go to the town clerk's office to apply
for your marriage license - Link to Town Offices
The license fee is $45.00
When you go to apply for your license  you will need to
bring:  
  • photo identification (driver's license)
  • certified copy of birth certificate only if you are 25 yrs or
    younger
  • if divorced, a certified copy of divorce decree
  • if widowed, spouse's death certificate
There is no waiting period in the State of New Hampshire
(It is important to remember that many town clerks have
limited office hours.)
The license is valid for 90 days from issuance
You do not need a blood test or witnesses
Your marriage can be performed by: A judge, supreme
court justice, assistant judge, justice of the peace,
priest, rabbi, or minister residing in New Hampshire, or
recognized by the State of New Hampshire. If the
officiant does not reside in New Hampshire, or is not
recognized by the State of New Hampshire, they must
file for a special license (for that marriage only) from the
Secretary of State in Concord, New Hampshire
You must deliver the license to the officiant before the
marriage can be performed. After the ceremony, the
officiant will complete the license, sign it, and return it
to the town clerk's office within 6 working days of the
ceremony so your marriage may be officially registered.
